TOM WEKSLER

       ABOUT TOM
Born in 1989, Tom Weksler began exploring movement at a young age, drawn to gravity, risk, and unpredictability through acrobatics and martial arts.
Between 2009 and 2011, he danced and performed as an acrobat in operas and theatre plays.
From 2010 to 2014, he toured worldwide with the Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak Dance Company. He later collaborated with Rootlessroot and DOT504 on Collective Loss of Memory, which won Best Performance at Tanec Praha and toured Europe.
From 2017 to 2020, he performed with Guy Nader & Maria Campos. In 2021, he was a finalist for Best Dancer of the Year at Spain’s Premios MAX.
In 2026, he completed a Master’s degree in Art Direction and Scenography Design at BAU University in Barcelona.
Tom’s career combines strong physical technique with philosophical sensitivity, shaping a movement language deeply rooted in the relationship between body, space, and nature. He is the founder of Movement Archery and a globally acclaimed movement teacher. Movement Archery has been active internationally for over 10 years and has been inspiring movers’ bodies and minds in studios, dojos, gyms, movement facilities, dance schools, and circus academies all over the world.
Since 2018 Tom has been working together dancer and choreographer Roser Tutusaus under the name WONDERGROUND. Together, they have created several movement pieces that toured nationally and internationally and won several awards. They create work for theatre, outdoor, and unconventional spaces. In 2023, they opened their own studio, THE ISLAND, located in the park of Collserola on the outskirts of Barcelona.

       DESCRIPTION
The main goal of this workshop is to provide participants with more freedom in their bodies. To begin this pursuit, I invite you to reflect on a question: “Can calm exist within intensity?”.
My approach to acrobatics turned into a perspective on life a long time ago. It is disciplined, playful, curious, attentive, and never ending. In more physical terms, it is a movement practice that draws a line between low and fluid movement, soft acrobatics, and meditative attention.
It all begins with foundational actions such as rolling, crawling, jumping, pushing, folding, and breathing. From there, we construct a basic vocabulary that is not an end in itself, but rather a set of forms that can be used to express other intentions. A roll can turn into a lesson in agility, a cartwheel can become preparation for a flip, and a backbend can turn into a dance move. My technical study is distilled into the most effective and accessible mechanics I have found over the years, in order to allow you, the participant, to apply them in any direction that fits your practice and supports what you wish to develop. Lastly, my work as an artist is present in the background, and I bring the same rigor and passion into the syllabus. We might find ourselves dancing without the direct intention to do so…

The Workshop Will Cover:

  • How to warm up for floorwork and soft acrobatics?
  • Breathing and its connection to posture
  • Floorwork and its connection to movement qualities
  • Rolls (martial arts, gymnastics, parkour)
  • Backspace essentials (Macaco introduction, dynamic and safe backbending)
  • Lateral inversions and jumps (butterflies, cartwheels, and the road toward flips)
  • Basic conditioning and programming to all the content we will cover

ALICE DI STEFANO

       ABOUT ALICE
She is a handstand coach and a circus performer. She practiced artistic gymnastics at a high level for more than half of her years.
In 2018 she decides to attend to Accademia Kataklò in Milano, where she graduates in 2020, and after also Flic, Circus School in Torino to dedicate herself totally to hand balance. From that moment she never stop to work on her hands and still now she practices it in her daily life.
She’s worked for different productions of Artemakia Company and she is part of the emerging duo Cie Nonni’s with which she brings the show “Mania-c” to the stage.
Now she focuses her handstand’s passion mostly as a teacher: you can find her in Torino while she’s giving group classes around the city.
She describes herself in perpetual conflict where discipline and fantasy lives together: a body and a brain squared from gymnastics with a big slice of madness in a soul of a circus artist.

       DESCRIPTIONS
At the seminar, the INTERMEDIATE group will be offered specific warm up of the upper limbs for reinforcement and mobility aimed at joint prevention and  conditioning exercises on the floor to raise awareness of the positions to maintain when you are in vertical. We will dedicate ourself to consolidate balance on hands, working on  basic leg positions (tuck, straddle and pike position) and on the transitions from one to another.

With the MASTERCLASS people there’ll be a focus on the exploration of macro categories, like Press to handstand and Stalder Press, Head-in and Seven, Side-entrance, Side Bend and One Arm.

        PREREQUISITES
INTERMEDIATE: hold the handstand for 30 seconds or so (without the wall or a spotter), basic positions (tuck, straddle, pike).
MASTERCLASS: hold the free handstand for 45 secs/1 minute or so, consolidated leg positions (straddle full, tuck full, straddle tuck), starting to work on One Arm and Press to Handstand.

MARIA BAINDURASHVILI

       ABOUT MARIA
She grew in a Dutch/Georgian circus family.
In 2019 she came in Italy to study at Flic Circus School, specializing in Dancing Trapeze. From this moment she stays in Italy to live. In the last year she approached contemporary dance, studying at the formation of Platz 14 in Palermo, to then continue her studies at Anfibia in Bologna, always with the purpose to combine dance and aerial movement.

       DESCRIPTIONS
We will focus on dynamic technique. How can body beats help movement in the air?
Different developments of the movements will be explored together and you will take time on how to make them personal and fit your body, starting from the basis of movement technique itself.
We will work on technical elements to dismantle them, develop them and then reassemble them to arrive at fluid sequences.
Together, sequences will then be developed in search of continuous movement between the technique and transition movements, for the technique to become the transition and the transition to become the technique.

Focuses: consolidate the foundations to be able to continue progressing independently after the workshop, improving body posture in the air, gain awareness of how to best use your energy and finding fluidity in movement on the implement.

        PREREQUISITES
INTERMEDIATE: for those who have a good awareness about the tool, they are starting with the dynamic or would like to start trying the dynamics.
MASTERCLASS: for those who already have a basis in dynamics and would like to delve deeper into it.

TJAŠA DOBRAVEC

       ABOUT TJAŠA
She is a Slovenian professional multidisciplinary circus artist currently based in Portugal.
Her main disciplines include Aerial Spiral, Chinese Pole, Aerial Pole, Dance Pole, and Hair Hanging, with additional experience in dance and hand-to-hand acrobatics.
Her professional career began in 2018 after winning Slovenia’s Got Talent, which opened the door to the international circus and performance world. In 2020, she was invited to perform at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, where she received two awards. That same year, with the pandemic pausing many projects, she took the opportunity to study at the Professional Contemporary Circus School (INAC) in Portugal.
In 2022, she became the first Slovenian artist to be chosen as a main character in a Cirque du Soleil show (Muv). Since then, her curiosity has taken herself through diverse experiences — from German cabarets to traditional Italian circus, TV appearances, and galas worldwide.
In 2023, she co-founded the contemporary circus company Rummi-Crew with two other artists from Texas and Italy. Together, they created the show F.O.F., which had a successful season at street and theatre festivals in Slovenia and Italy.
Currently, she is actively performing with Eu Quero Andar de Carrinhos de Choque (directed by Bruno Machado) and developing three new shows: Liberdade Liberdade, Pasto, and Isla of Flightless Birds.
What has drawn her to circus from the very beginning is the creation process. Her goal is to keep researching new concepts of movement, exploring expression through physicality, and developing a unique creative language shaped by her diverse experiences.

       DESCRIPTIONS
At the seminar, the INTERMEDIATE group will be offered a first part of physical preparation of strength, mobility and body awareness, which will be followed by improvisation work to awaken creativity and the connection to the pole. Following the group level that will be created, we will review the basic technique, some smooth transitions and the fundamentals of pole movement and choreographic phrases and different technical combinations will be studied.

At the MASTERCLASS will be suggested: different types of heating to support advanced pole technique; improvisations to expand the body’s vocabulary and encourage new approaches to the apparatus; technical training focused on advanced tricks, dynamic combos, static and fall techniques with the possibility of sharing your repertoire.

        PREREQUISITES
INTERMEDIATE: familiar with basic climbs and basic beginner technique.
MASTERCLASS: familiar with tricks like twist to donut, brachials and dynamic like backflips and sideflips, and as well flag grips.
